The Santa Barbara SCORE chapter members have written a book entitled: How to Start a Business in Santa Barbara County. This publication provides descriptions of the key processes and decision points you need to address when establishing or expanding a business. It also provides local, and regional contacts you will need to establish a business, such as: business license, taxes, permits. There are many free publications available that have been developed by the national SCORE Association in their Learning Center.

The Small Business Administration has also developed an extensive library of free, downloadable e-publications that assist the small business owner.

SCORE has also formed an alliance with CircleLending, a specialty loan company. Together they developed a workbook that is designed to help small business owners understand finace and loan issues. This is available in PDF format through the following link: Financing Your Small Business.

You might also want to check with your local library for books on operating a business. Many books on business may also be found at online (or local) stores. The links below will take you to sites where you can browse for locally available books.
